The post-doctorate consists of a researcher"s stage after completing his doctorate as a way of improving the three fields that make up university life: research, teaching and extension. Its objective is to promote high-level studies, strengthening the research groups and the cadres of Graduate Programs in Brazil and abroad.

The post-doctoral process in the PPGCOM of UFRJ takes the following paths: through the submission of scholarship applications by professors of the Program to post-doctoral junior or post-senior level researchers; by means of a research project that contemplates this type of scholarship; by means of an institutional program financed by a development agency, in the molds of the PNPD and PNPDI; and by the interest of a certain researcher to deepen and renew his theoretical and methodological training, even without a scholarship.
