RESEARCH PROJECT:
Media, Audiovisual Journalism and Education: a methodology for critical reading of the production and consumption of audiovisual news content and formats in the digital environment

Description
Television and telejournalism in transition interact with emerging media and audiences immersed in digital culture, and their technological, language and mediation characteristics undergo significant changes inherent in the development and use of communication and information technologies. However, TV and television news still play a central role in the media landscape in Brazil and in the world. It reveals the coexistence of old and new models of production and consumption of news content and audiovisual formats in the contemporary media environment. The research proposes a critical reading of the reconfigurations of the journalistic audiovisual narratives in the present time, as well as the elaboration of a methodology for analysis of the media and news that incorporate the audiovisual language and multimedia resources. This methodology will be elaborated from studies on the transitions of television and telejournalism in the era of convergence, the use of video in journalistic texts and the participation of audiences in different platforms, considering the possible dialogues between the theoretical and methodological dimensions of Televisual Analysis, Theories of journalism and the field of Media and Education. It is assumed as hypothesis that critical and creative readings of audiovisual journalistic narratives broadcast on television and made available in the network can collaborate to improve the teaching and practice of journalism and to broaden knowledge about social reality in school education. Thus, this research seeks both to reflect on the ways in which audiovisual journalistic narratives construct and produce meanings about experience, identifying tendencies of research and theoretical maps where these relevant debates are registered, as well as exploring the hypothesis of insertion of a discipline of Communication and Journalism in school education. In the development of the research will be revisited concepts relevant to the understanding of media communication processes as cultural phenomena and socio-cultural practices that create links and identities, as well as analyzes of coverage of events and modes of consumption of journalistic information by university students and high school"s students.
