He holds a degree in Sciences Politiques - Université de Paris 8 (1984), a postgraduate degree in Scienze Politiche - Università degli Studi di Padova (1981), a master"s degree in Science Technologie et Société - Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) (1986) and doctorate in Social History - Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) (1993). He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, member of the Postgraduate School of Communication and Information Science Program (ECO-Ibict), Researcher 1C of CNPq, Scientist of Our State (Faperj). Magazines Common place and Crowds (Paris). It has as main research interest the productive dimensions of communication and information in contemporary capitalism (immaterial work, cognitive capitalism, the metropolis as a new space of production), working mainly in the following subjects: work, communication, globalization, city, fordism and citizenship. He edited several books. He is author of books like GlobAL: Biopoder e lutas em uma América Latina globalizada, com Antonio Negri (Record, 2005), Mundobraz: o devir-Brasil do mundo e o devir-mundo do Brasil (Record, 2009) and KORPOBRAZ: por uma política dos corpos (Mauad, 2014). He coordinates the collections Espaços do Desenvolvimento (DP&A) e A Política no Império (Civilização Brasileira). |

The metropolis: between pacification and mobilization
Description The present proposal aims to rethink the social logic in the Brazilian metropolis, shaken in these last months by intense manifestations of protest of streets (June of 2013). Taking as an empirical reality the decoding of the pacification policies of favelas in Rio de Janeiro, the great challenge of the proposal is the definition of a governance capable of transforming the Territories of Peace into Productive Territories into new beds of cognitive work. For this, the research project bases the strategic dimensions in three parts: the first concerns the specific discussion about the process of "pacification" of the favelas of Rio de Janeiro; a second proposes a more theoretical reflection on the pro-poor growth "centers", between contemporary capitalism and militias; And a third part proposes some lines of policies of productive mobilization of the favelas pacified. The project questions the presence of police forces in favela areas and questions the nature of the current pacification policy. |
